SRU Writing Center Overview
Writing Center Consultants work with you collaboratively to help you navigate your writing goals, obstacles, or challenges rather than revise or edit for you. They provide one-to-one support at any stage of your writing process and with any writing-related assignment. You may benefit from brainstorming your approach to an essay or research assignment, talking through a drafted paper and determine next steps, or learning strategies for revising or editing your draft. All Writing Center consultants are professionally qualified and trained to assist.
We offer in-person and online-synchronous sessions for the spring 2023 semester. You can choose the type of appointment you want by selecting an open slot (white) and indicating the appointment type at the top of the appointment form. For in-person sessions, you will simply go to the Writing Center during your schedule time and your consultant will assist you. For online-synchronous sessions, you will go to your scheduled appointment on the scheduling system, open the appointment form, and select the Start link at the top of the form; you will chat in real-time with a consultant either through messaging, audio, and/or video.
The last 5-10 minutes of your appointment (depending on appointment length) is reserved for re-capping your session, planning next steps, and completing the end-of-session report with your consultant. You will receive this report via your SRU email, which you are welcome to forward to your instructor if you wish.
